Hello Coney Community! Last week I stumbled upon an amazing blog with beautiful pictures. It is called
Dog Hill Kitchen. Maggie is a mom from the Greater Detroit area who loves to cook! Her presentation is stellar. Every picture she has looks as if it were from a cook book. I was able to find Maggie with my usual Google search of Cincinnati Chili. What did I find...Cincinnati Chili Cupcakes!!!!! My first thought was astonishment. How can you pack the flavor of our fabulous chili into a little chocolate cupcake? Maggie made it super easy. Her recipe is wonderful and it was entered into
The Iron Cupcake Challenge. This is a great site dedicated to Cupcake baking. Iron Cupcake has challenges where they introduce an ingredient and it is up to the baker to put it in a cupcake. The quote from their site sums it up beautifully. "A way for bakers from anywhere, all over the world, to take place in the ultimate flavor challenge and promote world peace, one cupcake at a time."
Here is a link to Maggie's
recipe.
It is a wonderful recipe with great ingredients. You know I had to shake things up a little. I did not make the fabulous frosting with the perfect chocolate "cheese" on top. I bought a can of orange frosting in a squeeze bottle! I think that was the only short cut I really took. You can see that the presentation isn't quite as appealing but I am here to tell you that these cupcakes are top notch! The after taste is that of chocolate with a hint of cayenne pepper. It was heavenly. I have always been that girl that has her mom bake her a cake without icing. I tried one of these Cincy cupcakes with no icing and it was so good that this will be my permanent chocolate cupcake. They aren't as sweet and it is easy to eat 3 or 4 of them in one sitting.
Maggie is a member of cheeseconey.com. We should all try her cupcakes and tell her how great they are. You also need to make sure you go to
Dog Hill Kitchen to check out her other recipes. You will not be disappointed. Thank you Maggie for all your hard work in the kitchen.

As you can see, if you go the extra mile with the icing, it really does look like a Cincy cupcake!
