I like to say that I'm an Ohio girl at heart and a city girl in my soul.
I've been up here in this crazy city they call New York for over four years now and its definitely become a part of me inside and out...but I sure do miss Cincy. My family, my friends and of course my Skyline Chili.
I used to have family and friends ship me cans of it just to give me a fix between my visits home...but then I found an awesome little place in the East Village while I was living there a couple years ago. This bar combined two of my favorite things about Cincy--Bengals football and Skyline Chili!
When I stumbled into Phoebe's two football season's ago for the Bengal's opening game...I couldn't believe my eyes. There were about a hundred crazy Bengals fans with full Bengals gear, banners etc...I WAS IN HEAVEN! When I figured out this place served Skyline Chili...I vowed to go there every Sunday during football season.
I haven't made it every Sunday of course...but over the last couple of years I make it a point to spend some of my football Sunday's down at Phoebe's, drinking beer, cheering my Bengals on and having a NYC 3-way. I'm pretty sure they just ship in the cans of chili and of course they don't have that famous Skyline cheese or spaghetti...but it sure hits the spot when you are far away from home.
Thank you Phoebe's for giving this Cincinnati girl a taste of home in the big city.
