Location: Cincinnati, OH
Discipline: Chili Spaghetti
Total Prizes: $5000
These are the rules as stated on the Kings Island website:
On September 1, Joey Chestnut will challenge all comers to the first-ever Kings Island World Chili Spaghetti Eating Championship. Chili Spaghetti is as synonymous with Cincinnati as hot dogs are with Coney Island, but will Chestnut display the same mastery of the food?
Registration for this event is now closed.
All competitors must be at least 18.
The event featured amateur eaters mingling with the pros in this first ever Chili Spaghetti challenge! What a great idea. "Humble" Bob Shoudt of Philadelphia was the winner on Monday as he ate his way to the $2500 prize. He even was able to beat the world's top-ranked competitive eater, Joey Chestnut. Shoudt is ranked fifth in the world. I have seen multiple articles on this event and I am getting some mixed results on the actual amounts eaten. Here are the most consistent numbers in my search.
I am not sure on the exact numbers, however this seems to be what most everyone is reporting. Could you imagine filling your belly with even just a pound of spaghetti? These guys are crazy!!!!
