Is There Cincinnati Chili In West Chester, Pa.?

It’s called compartmentalization, and even though it is an unsuitably long word, the idea seems to work pretty well. In basic form, compartmentalization means sectioning off areas of your brain for certain functions – your artistic inclinations in one area, your rational attributes in another. In life, you could think of it as separating work from home. Extend things a little, and you get a separate compartment for how you deal with, say, people you knew when you were 10 and people you met when… Continue

I Know Cincinnati Chili, And This Ain't It

“Can't even get decent food. Right after I got here, I ordered some spaghetti with marinara sauce, and I got egg noodles and ketchup.”--Henry Hill, “Goodfellas” (1990) Let’s review. Hometown: Cincinnati. Chili: Skyline. Surprise: Cincinnati chili served in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Danger: Cross-pollination of foodstuffs. I went well prepared for my date with “4-Way Cincinnati Style Chili.” I memorized the legend of the Lambrinides Family, who started their first Skyline Chili parlor… Continue

Liberty Fairfield & Beckett Ridge Skylines

Both Liberty Fairfield and Beckett Ridge Skylines are located in the West Chester area. I have worked for both stores and knowing what I know about the owners and the way that they run their business, this is definitely the place to visit! They have an incredible amount of regulars who have been coming in for year… Continue

Get to know your favorite chili parlor

In a world where dinner can be found in your closest drive thru, it is a rare treat to go into a restaurant and genuinely be appreciated. What I have witnessed by working and eating in Cincinnati chili parlors will shock you! They actually want you to be there and welcome you with kind smiles and warm hellos. This is a recurring theme no matter which location you choose. Since those chili parlors have so generously enhanced our experiences, I believe it is time that we, as a city, return the fav… Continue
